It’s one of the best books I’ve written, I think, and has archery, dark caves, snake people, insane kidnappers, cool monsters, drug cartels, manipulative devil-folk, family bonding, big axes, magic armor, meddling gods, the question of nature vs. nurture, heroism, sacrifice, and a villain called the Slime King.
I had no idea this was coming out but literally minutes after I read this post I bought it for my Kindle. Thank you for informing me of yet another of your works. I am greatly looking forward to reading it.

Please forgive my ignorance, but does one need any D&D/Forgotten Realms background before reading this? I’ve never ready any, but if you think it’s among the best you’ve written…well, of course I’m interested.
It’s a reasonable question! I don’t think you need any background knowledge. It’s meant to stand alone as a fantasy adventure novel.

It’s been well over twenty years since I bought a “D&D book” and until today I didn’t think I’d ever see the day I’d do so again 🙂
I added this book to my Amazon wishlist when I first saw it advertised. I am so glad I did. One of the best D&D books I’ve read in quite awhile. I sure hope there’s a sequal coming!!!

Just finished it! Great read. Very authentic D&D feel, like playing a game. Some authors forget about magic items etc. and write books that have too little fantasy, like you’re reading The Thee Musketeers or something. You got it just right with this one.
Hope it does well and you can make it into a trilogy.
Thanks! Some people resist having powerful magical items and meddling gods in their D&D books, but for me, that stuff is the fun part!

I agree that this book is a really good book. I hope it does really well; because I was disappointed that the book was so short. Upon finishing it I starting looking to see if there was a second part coming. *sigh*.

I really loved this book and am looking forward for a sequel =), Zaltys is a very interesting character (as much as Drizzt do Urden). Krailash and Scitheron (yeah i liked this not-so-evil snakeman^^) were cool too. Thanks you so much for this adventure in jungles and darkness. 😉

I loved your style, and the way you’re getting readers to re-consider what evil is and how it’s formed. I think you made good use of the fantasy realm with the use of magic and using the elements of surprise with the way the gods of the realm may try to influence destiny. You’ve left enough hanging for a series, and I’d love to see more of Zaltys and family as the head north. Maybe as Drizzt and Zaltys could met up in Neverwinter to play as chess pieces between Lloth and Zehir. I think you and R.A. Salvatore could have fun with a co-authored series, buy understand, easier said than done. Look forward to more.
