Here's something nice. Jonathan Strahan (Locus reviews editor, newly-enshrined co-editor of the Best Science Fiction series from ibooks, former co-editor of Eidolon, frequent award judge, small-press publisher, nice guy, etc., etc.) is planning to review Little Gods sometime soon, and in his online journal today he said some very nice things about the book in general, practically a review-in-miniature -- read it here. It pleases me immensely that someone whose opinion I value so highly thinks well of my work.

Now, to send you off to read other people's work. Karina Sumner-Smith (a Flytrap contributor, I should remind you) has a fine story up at Strange Horizons this week, "Drowned Men Can't Have Kids". I read an earlier version of this story quite a while back. I think it was the first thing I ever read of Karina's, and it's the reason she was invited to submit to Flytrap -- it's exactly the sort of story I wanted for the 'zine. Literate, smart, quirky, strange, moving, accomplished. (For the record, I think her Flytrap story is just as good.) There's not nearly enough buzz around Karina. I think she's one of the best new writers around, and I hope to see a lot more from her. Give her a try.

And our own Jon Hansen, frequent Star*Line contributor, (who very kindly sent Heather and I some auditory treats last week, and sent the kittens some toy mice to torment) has a fine poem at SH this week, "The Laundromat Advances the Plot".

Would it kill you just to try and be a nicer guy?

Flytrap! Sure, we could use some extra money, if you want to help out. Maybe we could even do a color cover!

This chapbook got a rave review by Charles de Lint! One of the stories got an honorable mention in the Year's Best Fantasy and Horror! How can you not get a copy?
